The Nānākuli High & Intermediate School Performing Arts Center (NPAC) is set to dazzle the community with its upcoming “Opening Night,” a free musical revue featuring an exhilarating mix of past and present hits with a sprinkle of Broadway magic. Scheduled for August 9 and 10 at 7 PM, the event will be held at the NHIS Multi-Purpose Building and is open to the public at no charge.
“Opening Night” is more than just a show; it’s a showcase of the rising talent within the NPAC, highlighting the skills and hard work of students who have dedicated months to perfecting their performances. The revue includes a variety of musical numbers that promise to entertain and engage audiences of all ages.
Why Attend? Insight from NPAC Students
Promise Jellings-Faletogo, a second-year NPAC performer, encourages the community to attend: “Opening Night showcases the talent and hard work of our students and directors. It’s also a great way for other students to see what we do and hopefully inspire them to join the program. The show features catchy songs and awesome choreography, displaying the dedication of each kid involved.”
Haedyn Carba, a four-year member of NPAC, shared her thoughts: “People should come to see Opening Night because there are many different songs that they may recognize, and the tunes are really catchy. It’s a fun show to see, and it helps the audience understand some of the things NPAC does. Being part of NPAC makes me happy, and it’s fun. It has also helped me become better in acting, singing, and dancing.”
A Testament to Community and Growth
Robin Kitsu, director of NPAC, expressed his pride in the performers’ growth and the supportive community that has formed through the arts program. “It’s amazing to see how much this returning cast has grown from their first day to now. I am proud of their performances but even prouder how they have grown as leaders and as a team.”
“Opening Night” is not only a platform for student performers to shine but also serves as an introduction for potential new members to see the benefits and possibilities that NPAC offers. There will be opportunities to speak with NPAC staff, students, and even NPAC parents about the program. NPAC is open to students from any public school from grades 1 to 12.
“I continued to stay in NPAC because it’s really fun. You get to learn new dances and have an opportunity to sing a song, but also to make new friends and get out of your shell. What NPAC has done for me is that it made me more confident and made me get out of my comfort shell and into performing in front of people,” said Heaven Kuala-Asinsin, a second-year NPAC student.
Join the NPAC on August 9 and 10 for an entertaining evening of song and dance that will showcase the young talent that promises to inspire and captivate.
